Eating great

she just finished up the second feeding through the night and is sleeping. Erin really hasn't slept too much as she has been in discomfort from air from her procedure that is in her back, hopefully it dissipates as time goes on.

Day zero closing

with the day zero coming to closure, we are so greatful for the wonderful countless blessings the good Lord has bestowed upon us. It has been a grand finale of a final birth for the family. Lilah has lost a lot of her swelling and looks like a different baby, cute as could be. I was bumbed a little earlier when my laptop gave me the blue screen of death. I was able to fix it by using a ball point pen removing a memory chip....no way I was going to let hardware failures reign on our parade :) I will keep the content flowing once I get a chance to collect and organize it on the site...stay tuned!

Just nursed and doing great!

she latched right on and is very peaceful and is just precious...erin is about to go in for a tubal operation about 1400 and then we head into the post partum area. Lilah is very alert and looking around now. Erin is doing great and all smiles.

--sent from my handheld

One last pic of prenant Erin

here it is, days...actually years of being pregnant coming to closure

--sent from my handheld

On the final stretch

she is 10cm, they went to get the doc, the time is near, very exciting here!

--sent from my handheld

Making progress

the sharp pains are no more which is good, she is starting to feel pressure and they say the baby has for sure dropped based on the heart rate dips, measuring about 145 heart rate. Erin is thinking within the next couple hours, we already surpassed mary's birth time!

--sent from my handheld

Some pain

she had some very sharp pains so they gave her some adjustment on the epideral, seems better now. The baby has dropped lower as well.

--sent from my handheld

epideral is in

the epideral is in and they just measured, she's at 4cm

--sent from my handheld

Epideral going in

we stepped out so they could put the epideral in! Heart rate staying about 140!

--sent from my handheld

Movin right along

still progressing, heart rate 140 contractions every 2 min still, she hasn't been checked in a bit, I'm sure she has dialated some more. This patient computer is pretty slick, still using the treo so I can attach photos.

--sent from my handheld

Crew is here

al the crew have arrived, erins mom, my parents and my sister. She is thinking it is time for the epideral.

grace spent the night at jennifers last night and is at school now and teddy and mary are hanging out with poppy today.

--sent from my handheld

Contractions steady

the contractions are very steady now every 2 minutes, pain steady as well, she is thinking epideral may be ready to go very soon.

--sent from my handheld

Setting up

the nurse confirmed water is broken and contractions are about 3 min apart and more intense, doc is in another delivery right now so this could be cutting it close. the nurse is setting up everything now to be prepared since it is looking like we are on the fasttrack. Seeing how fast this is progressing I am glad we scheduled this since with as fast as she delivers we may not have mde it to the hospital.

--sent from my handheld

Water broke

wow, water just broke and pain is setting in, this could go real quick.

--sent from my handheld

Contractions

contractions appear to be about every 5 to 6 min, no real pain yet. The patient coputer is pretty cool, I just got done playing a game and erin is flipping channels. Baby heart rate is steady anout 136. Attached is a photo of the patient computer.

--sent from my handheld

Doc arrived

doc white was just in and she is measuring 2cm. She tried to break the water but was not successful and was painful, she is going to try again once she dialates some more.

--sent from my handheld

Pitossin

just started.

--sent from my handheld

About to start pitossin

nurses changed shifts now and the new nurse is here to start the pitossin stuff. Doc white not here yet to break the water.

Of course erin has found the phone, I'm sure it won't be long before the word gets out and this phone will be ringing off the hook.

Hospital Computer

Sweet, i was able to figure out how to get the computer here to access the mobile blog! I can see that the times posted here are an hour off, they are posting 1 hour ahead of eastern daylight from the treo...

Iv woes

well, the one nurse tried two times to get the iv in but was not successful so she had to call one of the other nurses in to do it...iv is now in. babies heart rate is about 160s now, she is very active and moving around a lot. They have a computer in here that I will have to experiment with to see if I have access to the inet, would be easier to type on there than on the treo!

--sent from my handheld

Checked in

we are in the birthing room now at clarian north, the first time we have delivere here, and it is a very nice facility, seems more like a nice hotel actually. Babys heart rate is pretty high in the 180's, pretty high aparently. They are doing some bloodwork now, good time for me to go get some coffee!

--sent from my handheld

The day begins

well, we are off to the hospital and only 6 minutes behind schedule! We both slept like rocks. Will update when we get settled in.

This is test

just testing with a photo

--sent from my treo

All set?

Well, I am just sitting here thinking of my "usual" pre-child birthing drill thinking am I technologically ready. Interstingly enough as I have accumulated more children, the question seems to arise later and later in the process and I seem less prepared each time. I just posted a test blog from the phone from the treo with a picture taken of Mary about a week ago...it is unreal how babies change to toddlers and the miracles in a persons life in such a short bit of time...I read back through some of the blogs I posted from my phone 2 years ago here, crazy how time flies.

The date is set at 10/1, I am praying God doesn't surprise us next week as I will be out on business and of all the weeks this year, this'd be most untimely from a scheduling standpoint...we'll see how the doc's visit tomorrow goes! The day of, I'll be posting my usual updates and this blog will contain the first photo of the new baby girl (95% chance we are told)! So for the family and friends in remote places, check back here, assuming we're blessed to be on our schedule this time, you'll get the latest news from here!

It's 3am

Mary is wide awake and nursing now. Before eating she was just as calm as could be. She can really focus on your face and follow you with her eyes which is pretty cool...you can see her thinking and wondering :) the cramps have been strong during this feeding too. I snapped a photo of her, 15 hours old!

on a side note, after 4 hours of laying on this couch, my back feels like I just moved 20 yards of mulch.

Day zero winding down

It has been a great (and long) day from the birth to the visits by all our friends and family. We appreciate everyones prayers and support!

Mary has fussed very little and has been alert several hours today. She has already nursed several times and is nursing right now.

Erin has had severe contractions and cramping when she nurses, supposedly with each kid you have the after birth cramping multiplies in intensity. Thankful I am a man and events such as this only confirm women are stronger than men. Other than this Erin has been doing the best she ever has. She has no tearing and is able to walk around just fine, it is amazing.

Mary had a massive BM tonight of that tar like substance, hopefully that is the last one of those types of diapers. I think she lost half a pound as a result.

What a day! I hope to get the mass of pictures online tomorrow for all our friends in family in remote locations! Check my website for the latest.

We are both looking forward to a couple hours of sleep now. Erins mom is staying over with Grace and Tedster.

Goodnight!!!

New pic

Here's another photo!

Mom and Mary

she has a dimple on her chin and she is very calm right now!

Length

there is no emoticon to express the feelings here. erin and mary doing great, she is 20 inches and 13 inches head size! Erin went from 6 to 10 in 23 minutes and 8 to 10 in just 4 minutes, pretty crazy! erin makes this look easy. Becker out.

Mary is here!!!

At 11:21 am est we have been blessed with a beautiful baby girl! Praise God. The doctor had to run here to deliver Mary. She is 6lb 12oz. More details in a while.

Baby is ready

We are waiting for doc! Unreal.

Baby is close

We are at 7cm now, contractions very regular, epideral is working well, they are predicting that Mary will be here before noon, this may be a new delivery record.

Epediral is in

No new measure yet but they will take one soon I'm told. I was wandering around and located the IT department, snapped this photo of their biometric key system which I thought was cool!

Pain setting in now

Wanda has arrived, we have a full house. Erin isn't laughing as much now that the pain is setting in, epideral ordered and contractions are consistent. No new measurements yet.

Birthing crew all here

My parents are now here, now we just need Mary to arrive! Jerry is back at home with Teddy and Grace.

Photo from the room

Here's a pic of the nurse (Cindy) and Erin.

Family arriving

Erins mom and jeniffer are here now, my parents are enroute. They havnt done anymore checks yet so no new stats to post. She's still talking and laughing so I think we are a ways off. Our student nurse is here, her name is also Mary, she likes the name we've chosen!

3cm and water broke

Dr. White is here and they took some stats, 3cm and they broke the water...contractions regular and starting to be painful.

All plugged in

The nurse has got her all plugged into the equipment and bags of fluids. She is at 2 cm and 70 pct. Baby heart rate is averaging in the 150's. Small sporadic contractions registering, the potossin just went in so I expect things will change in a bit. Now we wait.

We're off!

I had a thought before I dosed off around 2300 that tonight would be a bad night for any sleeping problems with the kids. Sure enough, 2am Grace is up and crying because she had a bad dream. Then again at 3. She said she dreamed a hand was chasing her. I think it is going to be a long day. I just had my bacon fix, Erin is getting ready and then we are off.

Mobile Blog Start

This is my mobile blog for blogging on the go. I intend to use this during the birth of baby 3 from my treo to keep family and friends up to date and also leverage the ability of it to post pictures. Saves me from having to send out many emails this way!
